Badger Ales
Hall and Woodhouse have been brewing ales since 1777. Since this time we have created a variety of recipe beers to suit every occasion. Our brewing team work hard to produce ales that have ingredients that capture the countryside in every sip.
As a business partner to us, you will be entitled to sell Badger First Gold, Tanglefoot, K&B Sussex and our seasonal ales. We do not sell our beer in cask through non Hall and Woodhouse pubs, providing you with a unique selling point for your business.
Cask Ales

Badger First Gold was our Double Gold Winner for Bottled Ale at the Brewing Industry International Awards in 2005. This ale in brewed using a single hop called First Gold. It is a classic, golden brown country ale with a pronounced citrus hop aroma.
Tanglefoot is arguably our most famous ale, it is available in cask, bottle and can. It was created when Head Brewer John Woodhouse invited his staff to sample his latest creation. On rising to go, he experienced a sudden loss of steering and so unwittingly fell upon the name Tanglefoot.
Tanglefoot has won of an array of awards including Gold from the British Bottlers Institute in 1990, Bronze at the International Beer Challenge in 2000 and Bronze at the Taste of the West Awards 2008.
K&B Sussex was created in the 1800s by King and Barnes brewery. We acquired this full bodied, hoppy beer in 2001. It is most popular in our Sussex pubs.
Seasonal Ales

We always have a seasonal ale available for you, this adds variety to your cask range. We like to update our seasonal ales as often as possible, however there are some that sell so well they do appear regularly. A couple of these are below. With our seasonal ales you are provided with supporting point of sale and premium, stemmed glasses.
Hopping Hare was launched in 2008. Triple hopped this refreshing beer has a clean citrus aftertaste. Hopping Hare is available in Spring and is one of our all time best selling seasonal ales.
Pickled Partridge is a perfectly plump pint. This is our winter seasonal ale which has full bodied malt and roasted notes to provide a fairly bitter beer with a fruity flavour. Pickled Partridge is food matched to strong cheeses and savoury desserts.
Bottled Ale Range

We currently brew 17 bottled ales, this includes our best selling ale Fursty Ferret, which is also available in can, it has been a successful seasonal ale in previous years. We also have two organic ales including one famously made with Hugh Fearnley- Whittingstall at River Cottage named Stinger due to the inclusion of stinging nettles in the brew.
We also have Applewood Cider which is made with Thatcher's Cider. Applewood is matured in oak vats hence the name, and is 'scrumptious to the core'.
Our bottled ales are sold across the UK in supermarkets and specialist drinks retailers. Due to the popularity of our ales the Badger brand has a large following of loyal customers.
