Training

Having the appropriate training is a vital part to running a successful pub business.

We ask you to complete the following training courses within your first three months:

  • Hall and Woodhouse two day induction (including an introduction to the company, how to make your business great, and cellar training).
  • Introduction to Licensed Retail Operations Course (conducted by the British Institute of Innkeeping (http:// www.bii.org) this course covers marketing, staff management, commercial skills and bar and catering management over its three day duration).
  • Basic Food Hygiene - this one day course ensures that delegates are trained in the competencies required to maintain food and safety standards within their pub.

The training costs you £650 which you pay us as part of your in goings before you take your pub. However because we believe in the value that training can add, if you pass all three courses within the first three months we will give you two 9 gallon casks of Badger First Gold, one of our award winning cask ales.

We also offer 'on the job' training placements with some of our experienced business partners. This training provides real 'hands on' experience and is particularly suited to newcomers to the trade.

All of our business partners are also able to use an online e-learning system which allows you to put members of your team through a variety of courses, such as foundation food safety, foundation health and safety, COSHH, DDA and Food Allergies & Intolerance.  This means your team members can complete courses in your pub and over a timeframe which suits you.
