The Volunteer is located in the idyllic Surrey hamlet of Sutton Abinger, within easy distance of Dorking, Guilford and the A3, A24 and the M25. Nestled in the affluent Surrey Hills, this area is renowned for its ‘Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB)’ certification.
This AONB is hugely popular with visitors. Within it’s borders you will find famous beauty spots such as Box Hill and the Devil’s Punch Bowl. Much of the landscape is owned by conservation bodies including the National Trust and there is a dense, heavily used network of public and recreational footpaths including the Greensand Way and the North Downs Way National Trail which runs from Farnham across the AONB and into Kent.
The Volunteer is a charming country village pub. The trading areas comprise front and rear bar & dining areas for some 70 diners with beautiful terraced garden and front patio area overlooking the village. There is ample parking. The pub is in excellent decorative order throughout.
Ideal applicants would be a couple who are proven quality food operators, with a track record of developing food led country pubs

Domestic accommodation comprises a self contained 1 bed room flat with en suite, plus a further 4 bedrooms, lounge, bathroom , kitchen and box room for team members
The Volunteer is a food led business offering traditional, quality home cooked dishes. It is extremely popular with walkers and cyclists, therefore benefits from a selection of daytime food offerings. It also offers a wide variety of wines, beers, ciders and soft drinks including several ales from the award winning Badger beer range.
