Zoe Eliasson, the new Business Partner of The Cock Inn in Sarratt, Hertfordshire, has confirmed a strong first six months of running the pub. The Cock Inn, owned by us, is the second pub in Sarratt run by Zoe. Zoe took over The Cock Inn in August 2025, reopening just 52 hours after collecting the keys. Locals and visitors strongly supported the launch, including many from The Boot pub, which Zoe has run for more than a decade in the village. Several key members of her team followed her from The Boot, having been trained by Zoe over the years, which provided continuity and helped the pub maintain high standards from day one. The pub traded well through December, with the Christmas period being fully booked, and both Boxing Day and New Year’s Eve trading successfully. Commenting on the first six months, Zoe said: “It’s been a whirlwind, stressful at times, but incredibly rewarding. The Cock Inn has a unique character, and it’s been amazing to see it embraced by both long-time villagers and new visitors discovering the pub for the first time. The nearby Chess Valley Walk brings plenty of walkers, and being opposite a 12th-century church makes it a picturesque stop. “We’ve worked hard to create a warm, welcoming atmosphere, with fairy lights, quirky chicken-themed signs, and a cosy snug area for drinks and catching up. My team has been brilliant. Every member knows the importance of providing a personal service and making guests feel at home.” The Cock Inn serves traditional pub dishes, with a focus on homemade pies and seasonal ingredients. Sunday roasts and an extended bar snacks menu remain firm favourites. Zoe also has plans to launch new events, including monthly themed food nights, a live music programme featuring folk and jazz, and planned sunset DJ sessions. Hot mussels in three different flavours are also available every Friday. A new outdoor bar has been installed in the pub garden to create additional space for the planned summer events. Born and raised locally, Zoe’s parents socialised in The Cock Inn in the 1970s, and she worked in the pub in the early 2000s. Her deep roots in the area and extensive experience running successful pubs have made her a trusted member of the Sarratt community. Zoe added: “Running The Cock Inn feels like coming full circle. My aim is to keep it welcoming and full of character. I want the Cock Inn to be somewhere that people can enjoy a pint, a pie, or a Sunday roast and feel part of the community. We’ve already built a loyal following of regulars, and we’re excited to continue bringing the pub to life with live music, our themed food nights such as French, Spanish, and Japanese cuisine, all with a friendly, inclusive vibe.” Mark James, Business Partnerships and Property Director, said: “We are delighted with Zoe’s first six months at The Cock Inn. Her experience and genuine passion for hospitality are exactly what we look for in our Business Partners. Zoe has managed a seamless takeover and made a positive impact on the pub and the local community in Sarratt. We look forward to seeing The Cock Inn thrive under her leadership.” The Cock Inn in Sarratt is open seven days a week from 10.30am to 11pm. Coffees and pastries are served from 10.30am.
