We're delighted to have invested £450,000 into a major renovation at The Ox in Ashley Cross, Poole, which reopened to guests this month.
The Ox’s building has been owned by us for more than 100 years and the Dorset brewer recently partnered with Provision Hospitality Management to formally bring the site into its Business Partnership estate. The entrepreneurs behind Provision Hospitality Management took on the tenancy at the start of the year.
Mark James, our Business Partnerships and Property Director said: “Ashley Cross is a vibrant hub of independent restaurant and bars, so it was critical that we found a Business Partner that understood the area’s unique DNA. Our partners have brought a fresh concept to The Ox and transformed the pub into a versatile space that is attracting new guests and welcoming back locals. Whether people are coming together to meet for an after-work cocktail, enjoy a cosy date night or a family celebration, it’s fantastic to see The Ox being enjoyed by all. We are pleased to launch the new Ox ahead of what we anticipate being a very busy summer.”
The extensive refurbishment has seen the installation of a brand-new kitchen as well as new fixtures and fittings throughout the pub to deliver a brighter, more revitalised feel. The inn’s 14 ensuite guest bedrooms have been fully modernised and are now in keeping with the pub’s new style. Each of the bedrooms has been carefully designed around the building’s character and historic features, but with a contemporary twist.
The Ox 2, the pub’s event space, has also benefitted from H&W’s investment and been fully refurbished. The space has been designed to host private and public events, corporate functions, and music experiences.
Joe Martin, Bar Manager at The Ox, added: “We take pride in using the finest seasonal, local produce with a wide range of dishes for guests to try, from hearty pub classics to some more elevated dishes uniquely curated by our head chef, Liam Hopkins. We serve food throughout the day for guests stopping by for brunch, or those craving a Sunday roast, so there's always something for everyone.
“We’re really proud of what we have created at The Ox with Hall & Woodhouse’s generous support. The feedback we’ve received from locals has been incredible and we’re pleased to be an inviting place for friends and family to come together to unwind, celebrate, and create memories.”
The Ox at Ashley Cross is open seven days a week from:
• 11am until 11pm Mondays to Thursdays
• 11am until 12am on Fridays and Saturdays
• 12pm to 10pm on Sundays
Food is served daily from 11am Mondays to Saturdays, and from midday on Sundays.
Happy hour is between 4-7pm daily with pints and small glasses of house wine and selected beers for £5.
